Berkeley Byers

Hi, I’m Berkeley. I am a student at West Virginia University majoring in Political Science.  I have done many interesting things in my life, although I am young.  I have traveled to China and Costa Rica. I witnessed the inauguration of President Obama after working for his campaign. I have been in life and death situations, and clearly survived. Throughout high school I played football, which taught me more about people than a sport. The high school for which I played was called Linsly, and for better or worse, it shaped me into the person I am today. Since then I have been a member of the Civil Air Patrol, and have risen to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant.  As a member of the CAP I have ridden in both a Huey UH-1 Helicopter and a Paladin Mobile Artillery vehicle. I have taken part in a practice for police shooting qualifiers, and done well. I, however, am not a militaristic person. I am a member of the WVU Young Democrats, and have done extensive charity work and campaigning with them as well as met several important politicians. Though I do have my glider solo certificate, I am still working on getting my private pilots license. Aviation is a big interest of mine, as well as computers and anything technology related. I have experienced many events, and believe I was born into one of the most dynamic, unpredictable, and rapidly changing times in human history. I look forward to experiencing, traveling, and above all learning more.
